Scratch bumper repair

After months of saving you have only recently been able to buy that car you always wanted to cruise around in. Your dream car is now finally your very own! Of course you treat it with the utmost care and caution which it totally deserves but one fine day you come back to the parking lobby to see that your worst nightmare has come true. Some wicked soul has mercilessly kissed your gorgeous car leaving it to sport a particularly ugly looking scratch. You just don’t know what to do now except for hoping the miscreant rots in hell. There is no need to feel so miserable, there are a few easy steps to scratch-bumper-repair which can make your car look as good as new again.

First things first, find out the color code for your car. Then you should probably go to some auto parts store where the body shop supplies are sold and get a few things like a spray-on-primer, clear coat, masking tape and an ultra-fine 2000-300 grit wet or dry sandpaper. Start off the scratch-bumper-repair process by washing the panel and then drying it thoroughly. It is always prudent to highlight the scratch with some material which is in contrast with the paint color. This helps to make sure that you sand down the level of the scratch without sanding through to the next level. The next step is to sand the scratched area in several directions with the sandpaper and plenty of water until the material of the contrasting color disappears. You can also add a few drops of liquid dish wash to make the water slippery and improve cutting action. But ensure that you do not rub in one spot for too long. You can check to see if you are satisfied with the smoothness of the sanded contours with your bare hands. After sanding wash the area again to remove all residues. After this you should mask off the area to be painted with heavy paper and spray the primer on in several coats over the area. To remove drips or other impurities you can sand the area between coats of primer. Once the surface is smooth enough you can apply a final coat of primer and the wait for it to dry. This should take about thirty minutes or so. After the primer has dried you can start with the color. Like the primer apply the color in several light coats and then leave for the paint to dry. After this peel away the masking tape and paper. However you might find a slight edge on the patch after doing this. You can remove it with a rubbing compound or fine wet or dry sandpaper before feathering in the borders with a light spray. Spray on a final layer of clear coat to add the finishing touch. You will find yourself beaming with delight after you see how well the scratch bumber repair has worked for your car.
